Since our year of collaboration is coming to its end, I want you to recognize what an experience we had as being fifth graders. As I’m reading your post for the last time I notice that you said “I never gone in Paris” which is similar to me when I was 2-4 years old because I always wanted to go to the Statue of Liberty. However, just after 4 years old I finally went to the Statue of Liberty. It was exciting to be there for the first time! Go back to our lives including, what we did, or didn’t do yet, I notice that you were trying to show me the symbolism from your state which connects to our state because we have symbolism in our flag, statue, along with, the state’s name. To build off from symbolism, I remember that I saw France’s flag in a video that talked about the U.D.H.R which stands for Universal Declaration of Human Rights which is a connection between both of us because our countries are both in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Who knows what our collaboration might have taken us?
As the breeze of our collaboration stopped to its destination we must go our own ways to see where it will lead us. Now, that we are close to the end of the year I wrote a few words for you to give you some good luck in sixth grade. Going into sixth grade will be scary at first. However, since I know more about you than the first time we wrote to each other I wish you good luck at all times. Even through the worst times to the best times of your life. Just to go back, to the memories that we had together is interesting to see because we were both learning about the difference between our culture, as well as, know more about the environment that we are in. Which I believe I will never forget what we experience in addition, what we learned through writing. By the way, I have a quote that I want you to remember “ If you think positive then great memories will wait for you in the future.” Have an excellent year at sixth grade.

A collaboration can help us in many ways. Collaboration can also teach us about ourselves. After reading your response, yes, I do have pets which are two dogs, and seven goldfish. In your response about where you live, I researched it all the way to Paris, and it would have taken you two hours forty-five minutes to get there. That is interesting that you are close to your state capital. In our class, we are building states because we are trying to learn about government, in addition, we are learning what a state needs. Metacognition is part of this assignment because you are thinking about your thinking. If we think about our country, you would know that we have more than one state. All states have a bird, flower, also a tree that represent their state. New Douglassland has something similar to that. However, our state which is New Douglassland doesn’t have a bird, flower, in addition, a tree. Instead, we have an organism that represent our state. As a result, Brook Trout represents our state New Douglassland. Collaboration will take us in a journey like no other.

Greetings, my name is Katherine. I’m 10 years old and I live in Medford, New York. Barton Elementary School is wonderful because it is like an exciting place to learn. In Mr.Miller’s classroom it is like a historical place because we are learning about history and people who lived in the past; which is also really entertaining.
How is New York City different than other states ? Our state is different because we have the World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, the Catskill Mountains, and Lake Champlain. An interesting fact about Champlain is that he was exploring the region south of Quebec. Samuel de Champlain was working for France by creating a fur trade in Quebec. Champlain is connected to our history because he named a lake after himself in our state. My desire is that I can connect our history with your history further.
My hopes about our collaboration is that we get to do more activities together, including experiments. I believe in the future we can have a successful year as partners. In addition, I hopefully enjoy what might come through in the future when I work with you.
